Cub Day Camp



A BIG thank you to all the cubs, parents, youth staff, adult staff and administration that helped make Mad Math Magic Cub Day Camp a spectacular success.  Scouts built robots, played with circuits, made stress balls, played with water rockets and more.

But the fun isn’t over!  July 27th begins the Cub Day Camp Back to Brownsea (camping basics) with daily cooking, daily handicrafts, neckerchief slides and more.  Sign up so you don’t miss the fun!

We’re pleased to announce our new registration system!

The Verdugo Hills Council has switched to a new, easier-to-use registration system.  It’s called “CampMaster.”

CampMaster is Scout focused, and designed by Scout leaders.  Unlike our old system, CampMaster is only focused on BSA registrations.

This means several things for parents and leaders.  It is easier to register your family, you won’t always have to create a “group.”  You’ll be able to sign up everyone on one page.  For leaders, registering your unit for events like Camporee is much simpler.  In addition to using credit or debit cards, you will now have the opportunity to pay by eCheck, using your unit’s checking account.  No more having to use your personal credit card and getting reimbursed.

Because the old system and CampMaster are two different systems, you will have to create a new account for yourself. Fortunately, the process is much easier than before.

We have trained many more people on the CampMaster program than we had on the old one.  The entire Staff in the Scout Shop will be able to register you online, right in the store.  They will be able to take credit cards, debit cards or checks as well.  We have four System Administrators, some Council Administrators, and several Council Registrars.

Please contact us at techsupport@vhcbsa.org if you are having any problems with the new site.  Since we have several people that will receive your request, you will get a quicker response than if you contacted any of us individually.  The new system has an introductory slide show in .pdf format to show you how to set up an account and register for an event on the homepage.  We will be scheduling training for Unit leaders soon, at Roundtables and in your neighborhood.  Parents are invited too.

The new CampMaster program is only for event registrations at the moment.  Eventually, there will be a facility reservation system as well.  Until that’s ready though, we will continue to use Bookking for the Council calendar and event registrations.  See http://calendar.vhcbsa.org for the council calendar, and to make facility requests.

Save our Pool Progress!

Progress is being made on all fronts for the pool at Camp Verdugo Oaks!

First, we have raised $6000 of our goal!  We have received several direct donations, sold many tiles, but we need to get more of our Save Our Pool cards out!  They are only $20 and each buyer receives free pizzas, burgers, chicken dinners, go karting, roller skating, massages, manicures for mom and so much more!  You don’t even have to sell them, (although $2.50 of each card goes to your pack, troop, team or crew!) but if every family bought just one, we’d have enough to finish the pool!  Call the Scout Shop today!
