Verdugo Hills Council in the news

tn-tn-gnp-me-0203-society-2-jpg-20160202“Engel was installed as president of the Verdugo Hills Council on Jan. 21 at Anoush in Glendale. He will chair the council’s executive board and oversee the nonprofit corporation as well as the council’s Scouting program.”

“Kitsinian became a Cub Scout in the Homenetmen chapter in Beirut, Lebanon, at age 8. His family came to the United States when he was 10, and he joined the Homenetmen Azadamard chapter in Pasadena, where he continued as a Scout until he was 21. Kitsinian married Diana Adamian, and they have two boys, Sako and Hratch. Sako joined the Homenetmen Azadamard chapter when he was 8, and his father got involved in Scouting again.”

Scoutbook

Screenshot 2016-01-15 at 12.09.49 PMJanuary Roundtable featured training on Scoutbook and how units can use it to include all participants, parents and scouts, in the advancement process.  Scoutbook also minimizes record keeping.   Scoutbook continues to add features to its application in the hopes that there will be a seamless communication between Scoutbook and National.

There are lots of resources online including forums at Scoutbook and these self-made tutorials from Pack 321.  Updates will be announced via social media at Scoutbook’s Facebook page.

This course is designed for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, although anyone who is interested in helping them can attend. INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS is a hands-on course that gives adult leaders the practical skills to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors.The skills taught will introduce the participants to the basic Scout outdoor skills from Tenderfoot through the First Class rank, and we teach you how to teach the Scouts what you learn in this course. Experienced campers and hikers are welcome, as are novices who are new to outdoor adventures. Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders is offered at the same time as the Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. An additional, no-cost, 2-hour evening session will cover the differences. Please bring your own personal camping gear, food will be provided. Please see flyer for more information

The High Adventure Team’s Outing Awareness Course is designed to give adult Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturer Leaders knowledge and training that will help them plan and lead their units on fun, safe, and rewarding outings. It covers the basics for all types of outings; from trips to the zoo or museum for young Cubs, to long-term outings away from Los Angeles for older Scouts and Venturers. “Outing Awareness“ is a one day seminar that is recommended for all registered Scouters, and Scouts or Venturers who are at least 14 years of age and accompanied by an adult leader
