I hope 2017 is off to a great start for you. There are I few things I want to update you about:

1. Once again this year the VHC will be doing the coffee sale with PLB Coffee Company. We will again be doing our own Council 058 Blend. This is premium
Scout Executive's Minute 01-18-17
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. As we wrap up 2016 we have much to be proud of in the VHC. We had tremendous growth in membership, outstanding camping programs, growth in Friends of Scouting, and another banner year in boys earning the Scout Executive's Minute 01-04-17
The Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner and the Silver Beaver Recognition Dinner will be combined in 2017 into one event on March 9th, 2017.  Join us to recognize our council's outstanding Scouts and Scouters.  We also need nominations for several awards.

Council Events

Powwow and University of Scouting is a chance to get a variety of training all together with many other Scouters in one big event.

When: Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 8:00am – 4:00pm

Winterfest is the largest gathering in the United States catering to Venturers, Explorers and takes place annually in Gatlinburg, TN. Our event is the largest scout assembly that specifically targets co-ed youth ages 14-21, and allows them to participate Winterfest 2017
The High Adventure Team's goal is to give adult Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing Leaders knowledge and training that will help them plan and lead their units on fun, safe, and rewarding outings. These HAT Awareness courses cover subjects that are not VHC High Adventure Training: Winter Awareness
The VHCBSA Council will be honoring our 2016 Eagle Scouts and the 2017 Silver Beaver Award recipients at a recognition dinner at the La Canada Flintridge Country Club on March 9, 2017. Also being presented will be The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award 2016 Eagle Scout Recognition and 2017 Silver Beaver Award Dinner
Aaarg!  Come test your scouting skills in a competition with fellow Scouts at this Pirate themed Camporee.  Competitions will include shooting weapons, treasure hunting, throwing tomahawks, and navigating pirate ships on the high seas.

Extreme Merit Badge Mania Weekend is April 7 – 9, 2017 at Camp Verdugo Oaks. The weekend will include a number of Eagle required Merit Badges (Swimming, Camping, Hiking, First Aid) as well as Archery, Astronomy, Indian Lore, Wilderness Survival, Woodworking 2017 Extreme Merit Badge Mania

Scout Shop News

Come into the Scout Shop to get great deals on all your scouting needs.  Outdoor gear and popcorn are on sale, and Thorlo Socks are still on sale until December 31st.

The Scout Shop will be closed on January 5th and 6th for inventory.  The Council Office will remain open during its regular 9 AM to 5 PM hours during this time. Scout Shop Closed for Inventory January 5th and 6th
Come into the Scout Shop to find great holiday gifts for the Scouts and Scouters on your list.  We're open on the 20th until 5 PM and the 21st and 22nd until 7 PM.
